Common questions about accounts, decks, study sessions, sync, device linking, and how to fix common problems.
How do I create an account?Account
Go to mnemova.com, click "Sign Up", enter your email and password, then verify your email via the confirmation link sent to your inbox.
How do I sign in?Account
Click "Sign In" on the home page, enter your registered email and password, and press Sign In.
How do I sign out?Account
Click your avatar in the top-right corner and choose "Sign Out". Your local data is preserved and will be available again when you sign back in.
What is guest mode?Account
Guest mode lets you explore Mnemova without registering. Decks are stored only in your browser — clearing browser data or switching devices will lose everything. Sign up to protect your data in the cloud.
How do I reset my password?Account
On the Sign In page click "Forgot password?", enter your email, and follow the reset link sent to your inbox.
Can I use Mnemova on multiple devices?Account
Yes. Sign in with the same account on any browser or the mobile app, then trigger a sync to keep everything up to date across devices.
How do I create a new deck?Decks
From the Decks page: click the "New Deck" button. From the Editor: click the deck name button in the toolbar and use the New Deck (+) button. Give it a name and start adding exercises.
How do I rename or edit a deck?Decks
From the Decks page: click the three-dot menu (⋮) on a deck card and choose "Edit". From the Editor: click the title at the top of the canvas to rename it inline, or switch decks using the toolbar dropdown.
How do I delete a deck?Decks
From the Decks page: click the three-dot menu (⋮) on a deck card and select "Delete", then confirm. From the Editor: select the deck in the toolbar dropdown and click the trash (Delete) button.
Is there a limit on how many decks I can create?Decks
Free accounts have a deck limit. Upgrade to Pro to create unlimited decks. The tier badge in the top bar shows your current usage.
How do I reset a deck's study progress?Decks
On the Decks page, open the three-dot menu (⋮) on the deck card and select "Reset progress". This clears all scheduling history so every exercise becomes new again.
What exercise types are available?Exercises
Mnemova supports five types: Flashcard, Fill-in-the-blank, Word-pick, Multiple choice (MCQ), and Order-sentence. Each tests recall in a different way — mix types for stronger memory.
How do I add an exercise to a deck?Exercises
In the Editor: highlight any text in the canvas and click "From Selection" in the right panel, or click "Custom" to create one manually. Choose a type, fill in the fields, and save to the current deck.
How do I edit or delete an exercise?Exercises
In the Editor's right panel, find the exercise and click the pencil icon to edit or the trash icon to delete. Changes are saved when you click the Save button in the toolbar.
What do the underscores __ mean in fill-in-the-blank?Exercises
The __ marks the gap you need to fill during a session. When creating a fill-in-the-blank exercise, click a word in the sentence to toggle which word becomes the blank.
How does sync work?Sync
Sync is manual — you control when your data is pushed to the cloud. A blue dot on the cloud-sync icon in the top bar means you have unsaved local changes. Click the icon to sync.
How do I trigger a manual sync?Sync
Click the cloud-sync icon in the top bar. The icon spins while uploading and a toast notification confirms the result — showing how many decks and session results were pushed or pulled.
What happens to my data if I sign out?Sync
Local data stays in your browser. Sync your changes before signing out so they are saved to the cloud. When you sign back in, your cloud data is restored automatically.
Does sync work offline?Sync
Yes. You can study and edit decks offline — all changes save locally. The sync icon shows a pending indicator. Sync manually the next time you are online.
How do I start a study session?Study
Click "Session" in the sidebar. Your decks appear as session cards — each shows how many exercises are due. Click "Start (N cards)" on the deck you want to study.
What do the difficulty ratings mean?Study
After each exercise: Again = wrong or no recall, reviewed very soon. Hard = correct but difficult, reviewed sooner than usual. Good = correct with normal effort, standard interval. Easy = instant recall, significantly longer interval.
What happens when I finish a session?Study
Mnemova shows a session summary with cards reviewed and rating breakdown. Progress is saved locally and will sync to the cloud on your next manual sync.
Can I pause a study session?Study
Yes. Leave a session at any time — your progress for completed cards is saved. When you return, the scheduler picks up from where you left off.
Why does the Start button say 0 cards?Study
When no exercises are due yet, the Start button is disabled. The spaced repetition schedule determines when each card is due — check back when the due count is greater than 0.
How do I link my mobile device to my web account?Device
Click the QR code icon in the top bar of the web app. A dialog opens with a QR code and a 6-digit short code. Open the Mnemova mobile app, tap "Scan QR Code", and scan the code — or enter the short code manually.
What is the QR code for?Device
The QR code is a secure one-time session link that connects the mobile app to your web account so both share the same decks and study progress. It expires after 5 minutes.
Does the mobile app work without the web app?Device
Yes. The mobile app is fully standalone. You only need to link it once via QR code to share data with the web app. After linking, sync keeps both in sync independently.
Can I edit a deck from my phone on a computer?Device
Yes, if you are a guest on the mobile app. Open the deck in the Mnemova app and tap the "Edit on web" (laptop) icon to get a 6-digit code, then on any computer go to mnemova.com/edit-session and enter the code. Edit on the big screen, click "Done editing", and tap "Get changes from web" on your phone to pull the changes back. (Signed-in users edit directly in the web app instead.)
How long does the edit-on-web code last?Device
The 6-digit edit-on-web code is single-use and expires 15 minutes after you open the session on your phone (not from when you enter the code, and the timer does not reset while editing). Once you finish or it expires, the code stops working — generate a new one from the mobile app to edit again.
Do my edit-on-web changes save automatically?Device
Yes. In an edit-on-web session your changes autosave to the session as you type — there is no Save button. Nothing is stored in the browser itself; the session lives on the server until you pull the changes back to your phone.
My sync is not working — what should I check?Troubleshooting
First make sure you are signed in (sync requires an account, not guest mode). Check your internet connection, then click the cloud-sync icon to retry. If the icon shows a red indicator, sign out and sign back in to refresh your session, then try syncing again.
My data looks different on the web vs mobile — how do I fix it?Troubleshooting
Trigger a manual sync on both devices. On the web app: click the cloud-sync icon. On mobile: go to Settings and tap Sync. After both sides sync, they will resolve to the same state using the latest-wins merge strategy.
The QR code expired before I could scan it — what do I do?Troubleshooting
The QR code expires after 5 minutes. Close the dialog and click the QR code icon again to generate a fresh code. Alternatively, use the 6-digit short code shown below the QR — it expires at the same time, so act quickly.
My mobile device won't connect — the dialog shows an error.Troubleshooting
Make sure both your phone and computer are online. Close the dialog and try again by clicking the QR code icon. If you are in guest mode, mobile sync is limited to 1 hour and one device — sign in for reliable cross-device access.
I deleted a deck by mistake — can I recover it?Troubleshooting
Deck deletion is permanent once confirmed. If you synced before deleting, the deck is already gone from the cloud. If you deleted it before syncing, close the browser without syncing, then reopen — the local state may still have the deck. Always sync important changes as a habit.
My exercises are not showing in a study session.Troubleshooting
The session only shows exercises that are due based on the spaced repetition schedule. If all exercises were reviewed recently, none will be due. Check the Session card for the due count — it will be 0 if nothing is scheduled for today.
The edit-on-web page says the session has ended.Troubleshooting
Edit-on-web sessions are single-use and expire after 15 minutes. If you see "session has ended", open the deck in the Mnemova mobile app again, tap "Edit on web" to get a fresh code, and re-enter it on the computer. If the app closed mid-session, reopening the deck offers to resume the existing session or start a new one.
The Editor canvas is empty after refreshing the page.Troubleshooting
The Editor saves content to your browser's local storage. If you cleared browser data or switched browsers, the content may be gone. Always save your deck (click the Save button in the toolbar) so the content is persisted to the deck store.
I hit my exercise limit — what can I do?Troubleshooting
Free accounts have a monthly exercise creation limit. The limit resets each month. To remove the limit permanently, upgrade to Pro from the tier badge in the top bar.
